"I've got the world on a string"

"I'm sitting on a rainbow. I've got the world wrapped around my finger. Oh what a world, what a life..... I'm in LOVE"

Just wanted to get this out there and thank the good Lord above again for this huge blessing.

In my lowest of low days during our infertility struggle I never thought that I would feel this happy again.... but Oh, Life is good!

It all started yesterday with a surprise from DH for our anniversary. Yesterday morning he said "Have your bags packed for one night.... I'm picking you up at 13h00" To say I was shocked is an understatement, and being the anal planner that I am, the first thing I thought was NO, I have so much to do today and who is going to look after the animals... and the domestic worker is coming..and, and and.... Well, after the shock, excitement set in and I couldn't wait for 13h00. My  DH does not have a romantic bone in his body, so it really did come as a lovely surprise.

Well, at 12h35 we hit the road and the fun started....  It didn't take me long to guess where we were heading but I had no idea exactly where we will be staying. So imagine my surprise when we pulled into the 5 Star Le Franschhoek Hotel and Spa.

I swear my jaw dropped to the floor! We were treated like royalty upon our arrival and once settled into our room I was yet again surprised with a Spa treatment. A  blissful 2h30min Mother to Be massage and Pedicure.

Okay, so the massage wasn't that great... being almost 20 weeks preggy and having to lie on your back for more than an hour is not my idea of a good time (read: Ouch!) Peanut was kicking up a storm, don't know if he enjoyed the massage or if he didn't like me on my back either. The pedicure was great though, especially since I haven't had one since before our wedding.

Anyway, so after the treatment I got dressed up and off we went for a lovely dinner. I must admit, I did miss having a lovely glass of wine with hubby but my glass of Appletiser had to suffice. Dessert was divine!

We had breakfast at the hotel this morning, got home just after 9h00 and off I went to the hairdresser, 3 and a half hours later and I feel like a new person. Haven't had anything done to my hair since before our FET in November so it was long overdue.

I've been trying to make an appointment with my usual stylist but every time I phoned to make an appointment with her she's on leave, so this morning I decided that I would just go to anyone *Gasp, I was desperate, okay* So I made an appointment not knowing who would be helping me. Anyway, turned out she was a lovely women of about 33. She congratulated me on my pregnancy, talked about how exciting it is and all that but all the while I recognized the look on her face that I'm sure I had every time I stared at a preggy bump. So I decided to tell her that this little peanut is a real miracle because he was conceived after 2 years of struggles and in the end by FET. Well, knock me over, because that's when she mentioned that they have also been struggling for a while and that he husband was at the urologist as we speak. Aaaw, my heart ached for her because I remember that feeling of wishing the preggy bump was mine so well.  It felt good that I was able to offer her some support and hope.  I think it's absolutely amazing that more than 2 years ago I was totally oblivious to the world of infertility and today I had the opportunity to make a difference, all be it how small, in someones struggle.
xx

P.S. 19 weeks tomorrow!! Almost half way and time for another Bump pic.... soon :)

Nursery linen ordered!

Ordered the nursery linen today!!

So exciting.... have tons of ideas, can't wait to get started on it all! BUT more than a month to go before we get the cot and compactum and now the linen will take 4 - 6 weeks... hurry up and wait hey!

I decided not to go with the range I posted of before because it was just tooooo expensive (I found a photographer to do our maternity and newborn shoot but she's pricey... so I have to cut some costs somewhere else)

Here's a little taster of the linen in the meantime:

Love it!

A Little Rugby Player

I am absolutely loving all the kicks from Peanut. Seems he is already practicing his kicks to become a rugby player one day. There's no pattern to the kicks yet, he kicks quite often during the day and night but they are definitely more noticeable when I'm lying down.

DH felt the kicks for the first time on Sunday evening.... what a very special moment, my heart just melted right there. He is such a proud Daddy and can not wait to meet his son. I caught him staring at my bump on Saturday, he just looked at me and said he still couldn't believe there's a little human being in there :)

I'll be 18 weeks in 2 days. Don't know where the time is going?? It is speeding by but I am relishing every second of this pregnancy.

I still feel so overwhelmed and blessed every single day.

Money, Moles and the Name Game....

Seriously, I need to find that money tree.... who knew baby things could be so expensive??

*Shock HORROR*

I wish the the R70k that we spent on fertility treatments could just magically appear in my bank account. I could have a ball with that!

Ever since I ordered the cot and compactum, my head has been spinning planning the nursery. I've got paint colours in mind but I want to get the linen sorted so that the paint matches with the linen (Yes, I'm a bit anal when it comes to decorating!)

So today I set out looking for the linen and fell in LOVE with this set:

It's called "On the Move" and it's from the Gemsquash Designs collection.

Now the problem... It's about R3K for everything that I want (want not need hehe) then I still need to get curtains, a rocking chair and a lot of other things. But it's sooooo pretty and goes so well with the colours I have planned. Eeeek... what to do, what to do??

On the pregnancy front things are going great :) We had our 16 week scan last Thursday and that went well. Peanut now weighs 147grams, he almost doubled his weight in 3 weeks! He is growing well and as busy as ever. Can't wait to start feeling the kicks!

Peanut at 16 weeks

Our next appointment is on April Fools day (20 weeks) and it will be our first appointment with the doc that will be delivering Peanut. I'm a bit nervous but I've only heard great things about this Doctor so pretty sure all will be just fine.

On the medical front all is well too. I'm feeling great except for the increasing tiredness, some days are so bad that I barely want to get out of bed and other days are fine. I just hope it's not going to get much worse.

I had to visit the dentist about a week ago too.... I had a Root Canal about a week before we did our FET and all of a sudden this tooth started acting up. I was convinced that the Dentist was going to want to redo the Root Canal without any anaesthetic but much to my delight she just checked it out and said all is fine.

Today I had to pop to the GP to have a few moles (8!) removed from my (ever growing) belly. They have never really bugged me before but they seem to have reacted to the pregnancy hormones and grew a bit bigger, I even managed to scratch one off yesterday, hence the reason for my GP visit today. Anyway... it wasn't bad at all and I'm even contemplating going back and having some more removed...I swear it's addictive LOL

Oh and lastly... BOY, have we been struggling with names for this Peanut!!! I've always had my favourite girl's names but never really gave boys names much thought. It's proving to be quite difficult finding something that goes with our surname, without it being too Afrikaans or too English. I had 2 favourites (Liehan or Liam) but DH doesn't like it at all because it sounds too much like my nephew's name (Kian) So those have been scratched from the list. The other choice was Zac but because my MIL and SIL's names are both Zachary (the Afrikaans version!!) my parents were convinced that Zac was short for MIL's name and thus don't like it either. Eish!! So there is one choice left that DH absolutely loves but I'm still on the fence about it... it is starting to grow on me so we shall see!

Shopping!

So today was a big day! We ordered Bean's cot and compactum today!! So exciting!!  I can't wait to get started on the nursery.

I have decided to stick to a more natural style. Thinking of painting the wall two colours, a blue-ish and brown-ish colour, with a dado rail seperating the colours. For the bedding and curtains I'm leaning towards natural earthy colours. I've got so many ideas, just need some money to make it all a reality LOL

While we were at the shop to order the cot, I found this cutie. Meet Mr. Bashful Bunny:

He is the cutest softest bunny ever! The moment I saw him I just knew he had to be Bean's first teddy. And yes, he is BIG and did I mention soft??

Then just to end of another perfect Shopping Day....  Bean's first pair of shoes :) Too cute

Proper preggy update to follow tomorrow - we have our 16 week scan. It will be the last scan with our fertility specialist :( Then we graduate to a normal obstetrician/gynae.
