Nursery DONE!!

WhooHoo!! The Nursery is done and I am so happy with the outcome, it turned out exactly how I pictured it!!

We started painting on Monday and  I was adamant to have everything done by the evening.

The painting went well and we had the room painted in about 4 hours....

Then came the hard part..... the Dado Rails. Gosh, what a challenge! DH isn't very big on DIY, he always wants to take shortcuts which never work but in the end after countless trips to the hardware store and hours of struggling we had the rails on the wall. I almost gave up with them but the end result is so worth all the effort.

By this time it was past 7 in the evening and we had been busy since 8 in the morning so we decided to call it a day, I really wanted it all finished but I was sooooo tired that I just gave up.

The next day I had to babysit a friends 3 year old (what fun we had!) so I couldn't do anything to the nursery although I was itching to get it finished.

I was up bright and early Wednesday morning, finished the last of the touch up painting and then the real fun began. I locked hubby out of the room and he was not allowed to come in until I was all done.

It took me a few hours to get everything sorted but I am completely chuffed with the end result :)

A bit of tweaking needed here and there and then all we need is little
Luca van Wyk
to make his grand appearance!

The Apple doesn't fall far from the tree

Wow, what an amazing scan we had this morning ~ 22weeks 6 days.

The sonographer was an absolute darling and she made the scan so enjoyable.

Peanut is perfect in every way imaginable :) Measuring a whole 27cm already and weighing in at 610 grams.

He was quite lazy this morning, didn't really feel like co-operating so that the sonographer could get all the measurements, I had to lie on this side then the other and she prodded and pushed him like crazy but Mister was quite stubborn and refused to play along... I don't think he was impressed that he hadn't been fed yet.

He has the cutest little feet... measuring 4.1cm, so tiny but boy can they kick! And I swear he has my fat big toe on the other foot (I have 2 different shaped big toes, the one we refer to as my mushroom toe because it's shaped like a button mushroom.... Peanut's toe looks just like it!)

The cutest little hands with long fingers.... wonder if he will grow up playing the piano? The sonographer also commented on his big biceps LOL Guess he does take after his mommy in that department too.

And then a pic of our little yoga man..... He absolutely loved keeping his leg over his head. Too funny!

And lastly a beautiful profile shot, the bottom pic was taken right before a yawn...

So everything is absolutely perfect with Peanut!

Mommy had been very busy sewing curtains today. I also ordered the Dado rails which should be ready tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have the nursery done next week!! WhooHoo....

Long time No Blog....

Sjoe, can't believe it has been such a long time since my last post. Feels like just yesterday!

Things have been pretty busy around here. We had my sister in law's wedding earlier this month which turned out to be a whole 4 days away from home, when we got back hubby and I both came down with a terrible stomach flu which had us bed ridden for 2 days and after that I've just been so busy with nursery things.

The nursery is coming along nicely now.... well, more in my mind than in reality. The cot, compactum and bed are all in place, collecting the linen on Thursday, paint samples have been chosen, blinds have been ordered, blockouts and curtains are in the process of being made by my mom and uhmmm.... I think that is about it. Give or take another week or so and it should all be done.... It's going to be so much fun.

As for Peanut..... still doing well :) He is very active and Daddy can feel (and see) the kicks clearly now. The funniest thing was when my cat decided to have a snooze on my bump and Peanut started kicking her, she was none the wiser, purring away, but seeing my tummy move was so funny.

My bump has seriously expanded in a week. It definetily looks and feels like a proper  bump now and some friends have even commented that I'm already waddling.... OMW

Otherwise I am doing A-OK. The bump is getting a bit heavy to carry around so can just imagine what it will be like in 16 weeks time! My energy is back in full force so I'm enjoying keeping busy. Sleep has been a bit of a problem, I struggle to fall asleep no matter how tired I am and once I wake up during the night I don't feel like going back to sleep again. Most mornings I've been up by 6am, with the house clean, ironing done and muffins baked by 8am! Long may it last!

We have a foetal assesment scan tomorrow morning and I'm quite excited to see Peanut in so much detail again. Will post a proper Peanut update tomorrow!

And so it begins.... (continued)

The cot and compactum has arrived and Oh My Word.... much bigger than I thought.... or the room is just smaller than I thought. I've moved everything around almost a 100 times and this is the most practical set up

Now I have to wait for the linen to be delivered before we can paint. Then have blinds and curtains made.

WhooHoo!! Exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found these this morning, think they are too cute :-)

And so it begins....

This bare room will soon become the nursery I've been dreaming about (and having sleepless nights decorating it in my mind!)

BEFORE

I'll post "during" pics as we go along and will definitely follow that up with the much anticipated AFTER!

I wasn't planning on starting with the nursery until the end of the month but yesterday I received a call, from the company that I ordered the cot and compactum from, to say that it is ready and they will deliver on Wednesday (tomorrow!!) I was only expecting it in another 2 - 4 weeks, hence the reason why the room has not even been painted yet.

I expect all the linen to be ready by the 20th, once I have that, I can choose which colour(s) to paint the room and then we'll be just about done.

I can NOT wait.

I love decorating!!

*Twins*

I just had to post this video that was shared by a friend on a forum that I'm a member of.

I think it's too cute that they have this fat convo and it really looks like they understand every Da da da da the other is saying.

20 Week Scan ~ New Doc

Sjoe, I would give my right arm if we could just have stayed with Dr S and he could deliver Peanut. I miss him so much already and we've only had one scan with the new Doc.

Our appointment was at 9h45 and we arrived 10 minutes early, as requested, to fill in all the necessary paperwork for new patients. Well, by 10h45 we were still waiting and eventually got to see the Doc at 11h05. By this time DH was not impressed at all (he had meetings to get to) and I was quite irritated. Anyhoo, I guess this is quite normal with docs that deliver babies and I suppose I could be the reason that he is late for someone elses appointment some time in August ;)

Doc H is fine. He is not Dr S, but I suppose I still need to get used to him. I'm perfectly happy with his bedside manner and he is friendly so we will stay with him.

He did a quick scan. Peanut looks great, amniotic fluid is fine, cervix tightly closed and placenta is behind him which explains why I started to feel kicks quick early on. Unfortunately we did not get his measurements, weight or heard his heartbeat but we did get a nice profile picture and I'm pretty sure that's a smile for Mommy and Daddy :)

Next scan in 2weeks which is the 22week fetal assessment scan. Then another scan again at 24 weeks (which I don't think is really necesary but I don't mind seeing Peanut so much)
