Money, Moles and the Name Game....

Seriously, I need to find that money tree.... who knew baby things could be so expensive??

*Shock HORROR*

I wish the the R70k that we spent on fertility treatments could just magically appear in my bank account. I could have a ball with that!

Ever since I ordered the cot and compactum, my head has been spinning planning the nursery. I've got paint colours in mind but I want to get the linen sorted so that the paint matches with the linen (Yes, I'm a bit anal when it comes to decorating!)

So today I set out looking for the linen and fell in LOVE with this set:

It's called "On the Move" and it's from the Gemsquash Designs collection.

Now the problem... It's about R3K for everything that I want (want not need hehe) then I still need to get curtains, a rocking chair and a lot of other things. But it's sooooo pretty and goes so well with the colours I have planned. Eeeek... what to do, what to do??

On the pregnancy front things are going great :) We had our 16 week scan last Thursday and that went well. Peanut now weighs 147grams, he almost doubled his weight in 3 weeks! He is growing well and as busy as ever. Can't wait to start feeling the kicks!

Peanut at 16 weeks

Our next appointment is on April Fools day (20 weeks) and it will be our first appointment with the doc that will be delivering Peanut. I'm a bit nervous but I've only heard great things about this Doctor so pretty sure all will be just fine.

On the medical front all is well too. I'm feeling great except for the increasing tiredness, some days are so bad that I barely want to get out of bed and other days are fine. I just hope it's not going to get much worse.

I had to visit the dentist about a week ago too.... I had a Root Canal about a week before we did our FET and all of a sudden this tooth started acting up. I was convinced that the Dentist was going to want to redo the Root Canal without any anaesthetic but much to my delight she just checked it out and said all is fine.

Today I had to pop to the GP to have a few moles (8!) removed from my (ever growing) belly. They have never really bugged me before but they seem to have reacted to the pregnancy hormones and grew a bit bigger, I even managed to scratch one off yesterday, hence the reason for my GP visit today. Anyway... it wasn't bad at all and I'm even contemplating going back and having some more removed...I swear it's addictive LOL

Oh and lastly... BOY, have we been struggling with names for this Peanut!!! I've always had my favourite girl's names but never really gave boys names much thought. It's proving to be quite difficult finding something that goes with our surname, without it being too Afrikaans or too English. I had 2 favourites (Liehan or Liam) but DH doesn't like it at all because it sounds too much like my nephew's name (Kian) So those have been scratched from the list. The other choice was Zac but because my MIL and SIL's names are both Zachary (the Afrikaans version!!) my parents were convinced that Zac was short for MIL's name and thus don't like it either. Eish!! So there is one choice left that DH absolutely loves but I'm still on the fence about it... it is starting to grow on me so we shall see!

Shopping!

So today was a big day! We ordered Bean's cot and compactum today!! So exciting!!  I can't wait to get started on the nursery.

I have decided to stick to a more natural style. Thinking of painting the wall two colours, a blue-ish and brown-ish colour, with a dado rail seperating the colours. For the bedding and curtains I'm leaning towards natural earthy colours. I've got so many ideas, just need some money to make it all a reality LOL

While we were at the shop to order the cot, I found this cutie. Meet Mr. Bashful Bunny:

He is the cutest softest bunny ever! The moment I saw him I just knew he had to be Bean's first teddy. And yes, he is BIG and did I mention soft??

Then just to end of another perfect Shopping Day....  Bean's first pair of shoes :) Too cute

Proper preggy update to follow tomorrow - we have our 16 week scan. It will be the last scan with our fertility specialist :( Then we graduate to a normal obstetrician/gynae.

14 weeks today!

14 is my lucky number so I had to post a 14 week bump piccie!

Mommy and Granny have been shopping up a storm.

That's only some of the newborn clothes. To my horror I've discovered that there is more than double the amount of 0-3months clothes. I just can't help myself :) It's just all sooooo cute. Granny has now banned me from more shopping for quite a while!

Baby VW will be "attending" his first concert tomorrow night.... U2!! WhooHoo. And next month Roxette. Hope he loves music as much as his mommy!

13 Weeks - NT Scan

Oh Boy, I'm gonna say it again WOW!

We had an amazing scan this morning. I guess everyone was telling the truth when they said that this is one of the best scans.

We set up the appointment with Dr M a few weeks ago, a was kind of dreading it, not because I was scared of the downs results but because my Doc warned me that Dr M is quite a cold person and not to expect her to OOhh and AAhhh at baby. I even googled her and got quite a fright when I found that a complaint has been posted about her on a well known complaints website.

But Dr S was soooo wrong!! Dr M was so so sweet and guided us through every little detail that you could see on the scan. She joked and made us laugh, she really went out of her way to make us feel relaxed.

Baby VW is perfect in every way and is too gorgeous for words. We could (again) clearly see it's a boy and had quite a laugh when Dr M proclaimed "Yip, there's the willy" Later on baby VW even grabbed it *blush* she pointed it out and said, "Typical man, boys will be boys"

Baby VW "waved" at us, rolled around, relaxed with his arms behind his head and we even saw him drinking the amniotic fluid... what a cute site.

I am completely smitten with my boy and his Daddy is the proudest daddy around, talking about his "laaitie" non stop :)

Thank you God for blessing us with this miracle! I still can't believe it's actually happening to me.

Stats at 13 weeks:
Measures 7.2cm crown to rump
Heartbeat @ 167bpm
Weight +- 80grams
Downs risk is 1 in 15 000

Milestones & Monsters

Today marks a huge milestone for me. I've reached 12 weeks! I can hardly believe it.

I clearly remember, when I was 6 weeks pregnant, thinking how on earth am I going to get to 12 weeks without losing my mind with worry.... and BAM.... here we are.... 12 wonderful weeks!

So far I have been extremely lucky in that I don't suffer from many preggy symptoms. I had the nausea that lasted a week, a few headaches now and then, went through a patch where I was very exhausted and just sometimes feel slightly uncomfortable but for the best part I feel great! Even Dr S commented that I must be one of the lucky ones that battle to conceive but just breeze through a pregnancy.

I've even had to start buying maternity clothes as none of my pants would close anymore and they just generally felt uncomfortable. And that after gaining just 1kg.... I wonder what lies ahead?

I have my first bump pic to share too, so here it is.... Baby Bump at 12 weeks
