I'm in LOVE!

Wow... seems this is the only word I can mutter when we have a scan :) Wow, wow ,W-O-W!

The scan was AWESOME. Baby VW is just perfect! I am completely in love!

Bean is measuring at 11weeks 4days already, Dr.S measured it 3 times to make sure. That means bean is measuring 1 week ahead. Seems like he is going be a big BOY.

Yip, doc is pretty sure it's blue! We could see something between the legs and doc is sure it wasn't the umbilical cord, but I'll wait for our 13 weeks scan to confirm before I start buying blue.

Bean was very active, moving around so much that we couldn't get a proper pic but we saw the cutest little body, arms en legs moving like crazy. Not sure what the measurements are exactly but the heart beat was 196bpm (must be the Milo I had this morning)

I'm so utterly relieved! Next scan on 10 February, only 17 sleeps!

Double Digits!

Wow, Baby bean is 10 weeks old today!

Time is absolutely flying by. I can't believe that in 2 weeks time my first trimester will be over.

It still feel so surreal and at times I still worry that everything is okay with Bean. I have this terrible fear that we'll go for our next scan and not see the heartbeat :( Most days are fine but the fear seems to hit me like a ton of bricks when my mom and I are out and about, talking about baby things, looking at prams, buying clothes, nappies and looking at nursery decor... that's when I get this overwhelming feeling of "What if...." What if we go for the next scan and it all ends there?

Our next scan is on Monday, 4 sleeps to go. I wanted to move it to tomorrow but unfortunately DH has a ton of meetings tomorrow so there is no way we can fit in an appointment. I'll just have to relax for another 4 days and trust that everything is still okay.

Otherwise I'm doing well. My clothes are starting to sit a bit tighter now, my belly is starting to sit out a bit but at the moment it just looks like I ate too many cupcakes. The nausea seems to have left me, I only have bouts of nausea now and then when I'm hungry or when certain smells trigger it. The worst at the moment is the smell of Roasted Chicken. I walked into Woolies the other day and the smell of the chicken roasting almost had me running out there. Phew, don't think I'll be eating chicken anytime soon.

No cravings yet. Back ache and head aches come and go. Still very tired in the afternoons so I'm taking a 2 hour nap most afternoons.

We haven't bought any big items for Bean yet. He/She does have a whole drawer of clothes already :) But the majority of it I have collected over the 2 years that we were trying to conceive. The rest is from Granny and Aunt Nikki. They were very optimistic in the beginning, convinced it was boy/girl twins, so they went and bought pink and blue outfits, now it's the wait to find out if we're having a little Prince or Princess so that I can swop the outfits for the right colour.

I am dying to find out what the gender is. I've even been researching Gender Prediction tests.

IntelliGender has just launched an at home test. It's a test that measures the hormones in your urine and based on that it can tell you if you're having a girl or boy. The test can be used from 10 weeks and is 95% accurate. The only problem is that you can't use it if you are using Progesterone supplements. So that idea is out the window.

The there's the Big Kahuna of gender prediction tests, DNAlysis. It's a blood test that looks at the fetal DNA in your blood, if the Y Chromosome is present then it's a boy, if not, then it's a girl. Quick, easy but very expensive (R780.00) The test can be done from 8 weeks and it's 99% accurate. The only thing stopping me from having this test done is DH :) He says we need to look forward to seeing the gender on the scan. I totally agree with him, it would be such an amazing sight but a part of me would still love to know now... plus he thinks we'll see it at 12 weeks already!

So all bets are on.... a little Prince or Princess? I have a feeling it's Pink (but that could be because I'd love a littly girly) DH also thinks it's Pink but he would love a boy. Either way we'll be happy with healthy baby!

Today I'm 8 weeks 4 days pregnant!

I've been terrible with keeping my blog updated but it's mainly because I barely have the energy to get up to get my laptop and type up a post.... sleep sounds sooooo much better :)

2 weeks until our next scan on the 24th, I'll be 10 weeks 4 days then and we have our Nuchal translucency and Biochemistry scan on the 10th Feb ..... so much to look forward too!

I'm going to try to keep my blog updated with this Preggy Questionnaire:

1) How far along are you now?
Today I'm 8 weeks and 4 days.

2) When is your due date?
18 August 2011

3) What has been your preggy high this week?
Just knowing that there is a little life growing inside me.

4) What has been your preggy low this week?
The extreme exhaustion and crampiness

5) What is your current over-riding emotion?
Definitely Happiness but I do still worry that everything is still fine with bean.

6) What is on your list of things to do in the next month re prep for baby?
Not much, just read about baby's development and needs etc.

7) When is your next appointment?
Monday 24 January

8) What is your current craving?
Nothing specific... not liking the thought of sweet things like chocolates, fruit or vegetables.

9) How are you feeling physically?
Tired, nausea but not as bad as it was 2 weeks ago. Boobs have grown quite a bit and are achy at night. Burny cramps and very bloated.

10) How are you feeling emotionally?
I'm feeling good emotionally. Except for the worries :(

11) How is your partner dealing with the pregnancy at this stage?
Very well. He is very excited and taking very good care of me.

12) Do you know the sex of your baby yet? And do you have a name finalised?
Nope, not yet. Although I was very tempted to have the DNAlysis test where they do a blood test at 8 weeks to determine the gender. DH said NO so we'll probably have to wait another 2 months to find out.

13) Will you be trying for Natural or Caesar?
Definitely Natural (maybe even with no drugs!) But whatever is best for Bean is fine with me.

14) Which hospital will you be having your baby at?
I'm hoping to stay at Panorama Medi Clinic, although my actual gynae is at Durbanville medi clinic. Which means I might be looking for a new gynae at 20 weeks!

15) How are you feeling about the pregnancy at this point?
Really good  and can't wait to start showing a bump!

16) What is your Tummy measurement?
No idea!

17) How much does baby weigh/ measurement at the moment? (Or at last scan)
mmm, I'll have to check!

18) How much weight have you gained to date?
Haven't weighed myself at all yet.
19) What is your nursery room theme?I haven't decided yet. Will obviously be easier once we know if we're having a little prince or princess. We did browse through Treehouse the other day and they have beautiful things!

20) What is the best preggy advice you have been given?To just relax and enjoy every moment!

6w1d ~ First Scan

Wow, wow, wow, wow.... WOW

That's all I can say for now *with a HUGE smile on my face*

The scan was amazing! I was surprisingly calm and not as nervous as I thought I'd be.

We saw one PERFECT bean and the BEAUTIFUL flicker of the heartbeat. And then the most amazing part when we heard the kadoef, kadoef of the heartbeat which measured at 116bpm. Dr S says it must be a boy because he is so laid back :)

Baby VW measures right on target for 6w1d.

EDD ~ 18 August 2011

Thank You Lord!

3rd BETA = Peace of Mind

Wow, the nerves and the worrying never end :) I really thought that once we are pregnant everything would be smooth sailing but it seems I just can't stop worrying.

Our first scan is on Friday, Christmas eve! Only 3 more sleeps!! I'm really excited but also very nervous and constantly thinking the worst.

So yesterday morning I went for another blood test... just for my own sanity.

I calculated that if my last BETA of 993 doubled every 48 hours as it should then I should have had a number close to 8000 yesterday.... so needless to say I was extremely relieved and happy when the BETA came back at 10 894!!

I have now vowed to (at least try to) relax and stop fearing the worst.

xx

more sleeps....

About time.....

It's about time I post another update. Things have been rather hectic here since Friday with the GREAT news and all :)

I phoned my mom to tell her immediately after Dr S phoned me. She screamed so loud over the phone I swear my ears are still ringing. We were going to wait to tell my Dad in person but then I had to phone him and tell him because he was on his way home and my mom would never have been able to keep it a secret. He was completely blown away. Then we told my sister and BIL and they were so happy you'd swear they were pregnant... they have already placed dibs on the first baby sitting.

Later that afternoon my in laws arrived for their weekend visit. We broke the news to them and wow, their reaction was not at all what I expected. They congratulated us and then just continued to talk about what's happening on the TV. Later on SIL came to say hello, we told her and same thing, just a "Oh, that's nice"

Now, I think the difference in reactions has something to do with the fact that my family knew that we have been trying for a while and they knew about all the fertility treatments, DH's family didn't know all the details, they just knew we were trying but had know idea for how long.

Anyway, as the weekend wore on MIL became a bit more excited and confessed that it just needs to sink in first (this will be their first grandchild)

DH's year end function Friday night was awesome! It felt so surreal to just relax and be happy :) We even danced the night away and only got in bed past 1h00.... and I paid for it the next day, it felt like I had the worst hangover ever and all I had to drink the previous night was appletiser and water!

I also went for my follow up Beta test yesterday morning and am happy to report that my beta went from 222 to 993 (4 days later) That made me relax a bit. I have been quite worried that everything is okay. I might even ask Dr S if I can go for another Beta test just to set my mind at ease.

Dr S wants to see us for our first scan next week already. So I made an appointment for next week Friday the 24th. I'm not sure how far along I'll be then, I think 6 weeks so I really hope we'll see the heartbeat then.

Symptom wise not that much to report... looking back on the TwoWeekWait there were quite a few signs but I was just to scared to believe it then. This is what I'm experiencing now:
* Breasts are bigger and tender *OUCH*
* Headaches now and then
* Nausea now and then but mostly in the morning
* Lower back pain that comes and goes
* Shooting pains in my thighs
* Slight cramping / twinges
* Bloated
* Constantly thirsty
* Stuffy nose
* Not sleeping well

All in all I am enjoying the experience immensely. I can not wait for the rest of it!

I just had to....

I've never seen 2 lines so I just had to test as well!

Overwhelmed. Ecstatic. Shocked. HAPPY. Amazed. Beaming. BLESSED.
